Jon Dean – Deano's World

"My ramblings from the inane to the downright silly…" – Jon Dean

The Short Bio

Jon Dean is a Father of 2, Married to 1, Manchester UK, Project Manager, Web Developer, Internet Marketer, Master of My Own Universe...

One thing I see time and time again is people getting bogged down in the minutiae and not focussing on the right things or taking action.

People get entrenched with looking at the tools and trying to make solid links back to their sites, and often look at the wrong metrics to track their progress.

There should only be three questions you should be concentrating on:

Where is your site ranking and is it climbing?

How many unique visitors are you getting?

How many sales are you making?

Everything else is a means to these three aims.

Tools are there to leverage your time and help you achieve these three aims, and you should concentrate on producing regular, quality content and getting it indexed and ranked to drive traffic and make sales.

So my message is this – stop focussing on the little things which waste your time and concentrate on the things which get you ranked and visitors to your sites.

Jon.

p.s. As a side note on using tools to leverage your time, I’m writing this on my iPhone while at the car wash getting my car cleaned…

  1. Good advice there Jon – I’ve started to implement stuff from Coming Home and telling myself – if it’s not perfect, it’s BETA – so long as its “out there”!

  2. Yes I’m guilty of being the ‘master of distraction’. One of my bigger problems though is chasing new shiny things just as I’m about to complete the present task!

  3. Great meeting you last weekend, and you’re spot on on this – not only take action, but also take the right action!

  4. Good advice I am like everybody else and I can get easily distracted and veer off on a slight tangent!

What came across in the seminar was “Test, Market, product & just do it!”
